Happy Easter 2013!!! Ella Kate is 4 1/2 and John is almost 2 1/2! Our Easter weekend festivities started on Friday with an egg hunt with friends followed by a family dinner at Papa and LeLe's.
On Saturday Dave and two of his buddies - Chad and Scott - competed in the JackRabbit 6 hour adventure race in North Carolina. They came in 1st place overall out of 17 teams! Way to go guys! We are so proud of you! The kids and I skipped out on this adventure race since Dave said there was not going to be much for us to do for 6 hours while they were on the trails - so we made our traditional bunny cake. My Mom and I have been making this cake for years and it is a fun tradition.

When we were mixing the cake I poured the cake mix in a mixing bowl and let Ella Kate pour in the oil and John added the water. We got out the mixer and I noticed the mix was not really looking right. I was impressed that Ella Kate was the one who had to point out that I had forgotten the eggs. Sweet Ella Kate - she is already a better cook than her momma at the age of 4!!!
The Easter Bunny came!!! The gum ball machines were by far the biggest hit!

Now this was a little pitiful! Brooks and John had spent a few mins trying to figure out how to reach that egg. I thought surely Ella Kate was coming by to get it for them. Wrong!!! She just smiled and snatched that egg right in her basket! The poor boys had to learn that life is not fair - especially with Easter Egg Hunts :)
