Shoot the Hootch

A few weekends ago we took the kids to "Shoot the Hootch".  One of Dave's co-workers was nice enough to offer up his 2 kayak's for the weekend and we took advantage of it.  I could really get into kayaking.  It is great exercise and I love being on the water.  Great Saturday afternoon.
Ella Kate eating a quick banana before launching the kayak's for our 4 mile trip.
We found an island in the middle of the Chattahoochee river that had a big sand bar - so we stopped for lunch and let the kids play.

There favorite game on the sand bar was to "rescue Daddy"
They rescued Dave about a million times :)

Great kayaking trip!
Our baby John is all boy and loves his cars!  Can't you tell.  This is how I find his bed almost every night.  I love this stage - where his whole life revolves around race cars.  His preference is Red and Blue race cars.
John LOVES Mrs. Traci.  Her favorite joke with John is that John is allowed to get his sucker before and during the haircut because in her words "He is right with the Lord".  HaHa.  Ohh how I love her - she is hilarious.  I always look forward to the kids haircuts with her mostly for my entertainment value and her special bond with John.

Ella Kate's Field Trip to the Fair and First UGA Game

In Ella Kate's own words this "was a big weekend" for her :)  On Friday morning Dave took her to a Daddy/Daughter breakfast at her school then later that morning she had her first Kindergarten field trip to the North Georgia State Fair.  Then on Saturday we took her to the GA vs. LSU game!  What an incredible game for her first college football experience:)

A few pics from her fieldtrip.

These two are precious and such great friends.
The 2 kids I was responsible for on the field trip.  Love my girls.
 Sweet Shia.

 K-3.  Love this class.

Waiting to load the bus to head back to school.  Great fieldtrip.  Once we got back to school I stayed and had lunch with this sweet girl and her precious class.  Such a great and special day with my best girl.

GO DAWGS!!!!!  Saturday was the BEST day!!  We had so much fun and Ella Kate got to watch an incredible game.  We headed to Athens early Saturday morning after dropping John off for a fun day at Papa and LeLe's :)  It was truly the perfect day.  We got to Athens early, watched the Dawg Walk, did a little shopping in the book store, and caught up with lots of old friends at the McNeel's tailgate.  We bought tickets from a sweet sweet older man that sold us 3 lower level tickets for face value.  The seats were awesome and included a cushion seat with a back plus pom pom's.  We were all in heaven.  We had the nicest people surrounding us and they all made a fuss over Ella Kate and her pigtails.  There were 2 of the nicest LSU fans sitting behind us and when we first sat down in our seats Ella Kate whispered (loudly) to me "Mommy look who is sitting behind us."  It was pretty funny and the LSU fans started roaring like a tiger at her and our whole area became instant friends.
 Happy Girl Headed to Athens.
Just parked the car and headed into downtown Athens
Ready to see her first Dawg Walk
When the buses with the players pulled up there was such excitement they were shaking the buses.  Cool experience.  The excitement about this game was everywhere.
Sweet Miss Priss writing letters on Mr. McNeel's cooler at the tailgate.  She drew him a picture :)
Ready to walk in the stadium.
We are in!  Ready to cheer on the Dawgs.
She really got a kick out of the student section.  HaHa.

 The cutest little Georgia fan.

Can't wait to take her little brother to the next game.

Grandparents Day and Burruss Camp Out

Last weekend was extra special!  It was Grandparents Day at Ella Kate's new school and the A.L. Burruss Campout!  So thankful that Ella Kate had all 3 of her grandparents come to celebrate grandparents day with her.  I hope she realizes how very lucky she is!!

Ella Kate was so excited to see her entourage arrive :)
Thanks for driving all the way from Birmingham for this very special little girl!

These two girls are so silly!
Showing Papa, LeLe, and Nana her desk in her classroom!
I checked her writing journal and found this picture.  It was a picture of us kayaking the prior weekend!  She is her Daddy's little girl!
Since not everyone was lucky enough to have a grandparent visit on grandparents day Nana, Papa, and LeLe adopted a few :)  Everyone was happy!
LeLe reading to the little darlings.
Love it how they pretty much insisted on sitting in her lap.
What a precious picture!

After a fun Grandparents day luncheon and classroom visit  - it was time for the Burruss Campout.  An event Dave has been dying to be part of since we moved into Lees Crossing 9 years ago :)  We were so busy having fun that I didn't get many pics of the campout - but it was great!

The boys the next morning!  We had such a fun group of tents surrounding us.
We finally had to wake John up at 7:45am.  Dave trained him early how to sleep good in a tent.  He went on his first overnight camping trip when he was 18 months old.
